Top managers of the leading railway companies and the carrier took part in the plenary discussion "Container logistics of the era of change":
All experts agree that the "shocks of 2022" are already confidently behind us and today the container business is showing stable growth. As Viktor Markov, First Vice-president of PJSC TransContainer, emphasized in his speech, the increase in container traffic volume only on the Russian Railways network for 8 months of this year compared to 2022 amounted to 13.6%, more than 4 million TEU have already been transported. The expert named imports (+27.3% growth) and domestic transportation (+15.1%) as the key drivers of growth.
It is important that the key market players in the TOP 10 Russian operating companies are optimistic about the future and agree that the volume of container traffic will continue to grow steadily in 2024. Thus, German Maslov, vice president for the linear logistics division of TG FESCO, predicted a 6% growth in the container market for 2024 and identified imports as the key driver of growth, primarily the growth of imports of the Chinese automotive industry.
Maxim Bukhanov, Deputy Director of Business Development at FESCO Group, told the participants about current trends in the development of container transportation, presented to the participants new services of the FESCO Transport Group, the opportunities that these routes open to participants.
Olga Gromova, Sales Director of RZD Business Asset, revealed to the participants the potential and possibilities of container transportation in gondola railway cars as one of the existing unloading measures at the Eastern Landfill.
Dmitry Kutateladze, Marketing Director of RUSKON LLC, told the participants about the development of multimodal container transportation in the south of the Russian Federation. The expert noted among the main challenges in this area the increased burden on the infrastructure of ports, terminals and roads in the South, the imbalance of exports and imports and the further expansion of the geography of regular sea routes to Latin America and Africa.
